New Mexico furniture survey, 1980-1987.

Summary: Collection consists of material related to the New Mexico Furniture Survey undertaken by the Museum of International Folk Art. The Survey was a project to record the origins, survival and revival of furniture-making techniques and designs in the Hispanic Southwest. It examined over a thousand pieces of furniture, noting the hand of the artisan, his tools and materials, and the evolving technology of the trade from 1600 to 1940. Collection includes survey and work sheets on furniture, computer printouts about furniture makers and images of chests, cupboards, chairs, tables, beds, benches, doors, and tools. Coordinators were Lonn Taylor and Dessa Bokides. Photographer was Mary Peck.
